Lip Augmentation

Lip Enhancement Nashville, TN Lip Augmentation

As one of the most sensual parts of the body, lips are widely seen as appealing when they are luscious and plump. Full, smooth lips are also a sign of youth, as lips tend to lose volume and shape as we age, becoming thin and undefined and a new source of wrinkles and lines.

In some cases, thin lips are a trait you are born with. Lip enhancement can also be done to add volume and shape to lips that are naturally thin and undefined.

Dr. Michael Cash’s goal with lip enhancement is to create naturally soft, fuller, and well-proportioned lips for his Nashville, TN patients. Lip enhancement can have you looking and feeling younger by restoring volume to your lips. Dr. Cash will discuss the possibilities with you in a personal consultation to decide if lip enhancement can help you achieve the appearance you want and which treatment will be most effective for you.

Am I a Good Candidate for Lip Enhancement?

If you are bothered by thin, poorly defined lips, if your lips disappear when you smile, or if your lips have lost volume with age, lip enhancement might be the answer for you. Skillfully done, lip enhancement can:

  • Add volume to naturally thin lips
  • Restore volume to aging lips
  • Improve the aesthetic balance between the upper and lower lips
  • Smooth vertical lines in the lips
  • Refine the shape of the lips

Lip Fillers in Nashville, TN

Lip fillers are fine forms of injectable dermal fillers that are used to add volume to or reduce wrinkles on the face and neck. These include Juvéderm® and Restylane®, fillers made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that binds moisture in the tissue below the skin surface. Both Juvéderm® and Restylane® also contain lidocaine, a numbing medication that makes the procedure more comfortable. Different formulations of the fillers are used to add volume to and plump lips or to fill and soften fine lip lines.

Lip filler injections take about 15 to 30 minutes and require no downtime for recovery. Improvements are noticeable immediately after treatment and reach their full effect in about two weeks. Each treatment lasts six months to a year, after which it can be repeated.

What Is the Best Filler for Lip Enhancement in Nashville?

Some of the top injectable lip fillers available today include Juvéderm®, Restylane®, Teosyal Kiss®, and Volbella®. These injectables have all been authorized by the FDA and have been through clinical trials and scientific investigations. Lip fillers offer temporary lip enhancement, but results may last up to a year.

Lip Augmentation FAQs

Your results will likely last anywhere from three months to nine months, depending on the product you pick and the amount of filler injected. During your consultation, Dr. Cash will help you determine the appropriate product.

The more viscous filler, the longer it will last. Dr. Cash will use the appropriate filler formula to help you achieve the best results to enhance your facial anatomy.

First, it is critical that you have treatment with a filler that is specifically designed for the lips. To allow the lips to move and feel natural, a lip filler should be soft and flexible. Second, a lip filler must not be too soft since as it must be able to maintain the shape of your lips. To get the correct appearance and feel of the lips, the injector must strike a balance between softness and flexibility on the one hand and firmness on the other hand.

When too much filler is used, the outcome is an unnatural or fake appearance. To avoid an exaggerated appearance, it’s a good idea to check each area in a mirror as it fills up. Overfilling may be avoided by filling in little increments. With an extensive education and a conservative approach to fillers, Dr. Cash understands how important it is to have a natural-looking appearance.

Many injections over time are another common cause of overfilling.

As you lose filler, the treated areas will appear less filled. However, if the same amount of filler is injected, there will almost certainly be some left over, resulting in a more filled or plumper area. If you continue this process, the treated areas may become overfilled.

An allergic response is improbable. Hyaluronic acid fillers are unlikely to produce an allergic reaction since they are created from components comparable to those already present in the body. Only a small percentage of people are allergic to filler. They are, however, more typically allergic to the local anesthetic in the filler. However, if you are allergic to lidocaine, please notify us before receiving treatment.

The injection locations may show common side effects of bleeding, swelling, tenderness, redness, and bruising. However, these effects gradually resolve without intervention. Another risk of lip augmentation is cold sores or fever blisters (herpes simplex) on the lips or the region around the lips. Be sure to inform Dr. Cash if you are prone to cold sores or fever blisters before beginning your lip augmentation.

While there is no downtime associated with lip fillers, here are a few activities to avoid to ensure optimal results.

  • Excessive or vigorous activity should be avoided for at least 24 hours following therapy
  • After treatment, stay out of the sun for at least 24 hours
  • Apply a cold pack to your lips
  • Make sure you drink lots of water
  • Excessive salt consumption should be avoided for 24 hours to avoid dehydration

After lip fillers, you should wait until the numbing medication has worn off before eating. It’s also a good idea to avoid foods that are difficult to eat, chew, or messy during the first 24 hours, so you are less likely to wipe your lips and disturb the injection sites.
