Breast Lift | Lift with Implants in Nashville, TN, with Dr. Cash
A breast lift raises and reshapes sagging breasts to give a woman a younger and more attractive look.
Breasts can droop and flatten as a result of pregnancy and breastfeeding, weight changes, or simply the aging process. Some women have sagging breasts from puberty. A breast lift corrects sagging and reshapes the breasts to be rounder, firmer, and more uplifted.
A breast lift with implants combines breast lift surgery with breast augmentation to correct sagging and add volume to the breasts.
A breast lift, with or without implants, can make you feel better about your body and boost your self-esteem and self-confidence.
To learn how a breast lift might benefit you, contact Nashville Plastic Surgery today to schedule a consultation with Dr. Michael Cash. What Is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is surgery to raise the profile of the breasts. In the procedure, excess skin is removed, tissue inside the breast is reshaped, and the nipple is repositioned higher on the breast. The size of the areola may also be reduced if it has become enlarged. The changes lift and give roundness to sagging or flattened breasts for a naturally youthful look.
When combined with breast augmentation, a breast lift also includes the placement of implants to increase breast volume, adding even more fullness

Why Might I Consider the Best Breast Lift in Nashville?
You might choose to have a breast lift if you are unhappy with the appearance of your breasts because of sagging, asymmetry, or flatness associated with loosened skin. A breast lift can correct:
- Sagging or pendulous breasts
- Breasts that appear flattened because of sagging
- A lack of firmness in the breasts
- Downward-pointing nipples
- Nipples that are positioned below the crease under the breast (the inframammary fold)
- Breast asymmetry due to the position and shape of the breasts
A breast lift with implants can correct any of those issues and:
- Make the breasts rounder and fuller
- Correct asymmetry in the size of the breasts
By making you look and feel younger and more attractive, a breast lift can help you feel proud of your body and better about yourself. The improvements made with a breast lift can free you to wear the clothes you like with confidence and pride in your appearance.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Breast Lift?
Dr. Cash can tell you if you are a good candidate for breast lift or breast augmentation in your consultation. You may be a good candidate for a breast lift:
- Breasts that do not align on your chest or do not have the same shape
- Are bothered by sagging or flattened breasts or by nipples that point downward or are positioned low on your chests
- Are in generally good health and not significantly overweight
- Do not smoke or are willing to quit for several weeks before and after the procedure
You might be a good candidate for a breast lift with implants if you would also like to increase the size and fullness of your breasts.
It’s best to wait until you have finished having children before getting a breast lift, as pregnancy and breastfeeding can stretch the skin and supportive tissue of the breasts, bringing back unwanted sagging. Repositioning the nipple in a breast lift can also interfere with your ability to breastfeed in the future. If you do plan to have children after your breast lift, bring that up in your consultation with Dr. Cash.

What Are the Options?
Dr. Cash will tailor your breast lift in Nashville to your anatomy and desires and will guide you in the decision of whether to combine your breast lift with the placement of implants.
Both breast lift and breast augmentation surgeries involve some choices, depending on the improvements to be made. Many of these choices will be made by Dr. Cash, considering both optimal outcomes and safety, but some will require your input.
Breast augmentation involves choices of:
- Implant type — saline, silicone gel, or gummy bear
- Implant shape — round or teardrop
- Implant size —diameter (width) and thickness (projection)
- Placement — within the breast tissue (subglandular placement) or under the chest muscles (subpectoral placement)

Planning Your Breast Lift
Your breast lift at Nashville Plastic Surgery starts with a consultation with Dr. Cash. He will examine you, ask questions to learn your medical history and understand your goals for the procedure, listen to your concerns, and answer your questions.
When he has a full understanding of your wishes, he will recommend a surgical approach for your breast lift and advise on the option to combine the procedure with the placement of implants. He will propose the approach that will give you the results you want with the least risk. He will describe what the procedure entails, its risks and cost, and what you can expect in recovery as you heal from the surgery.
Dr. Cash’s goal in every cosmetic procedure is to produce the most natural-looking results with the least discomfort and lowest level of risk for the patient.
What Does Breast Lift Surgery Involve?
Breast lift surgery usually takes place while patients are under general anesthesia. Dr. Cash will make incisions following the plan discussed in your initial consultation. He will remove excess skin and reposition the nipple and tissue within the breast to achieve the desired breast shape and position. If you are also having implants, Dr. Cash will create a pocket within the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle and place the implant. Once all changes have been made, he will close the pocket with absorbable sutures to hold the implant in place and close the incisions in your skin with fine stitches to minimize scarring.
Breast lift surgery usually takes about two hours, longer if combined with the placement of implants.
You’ll have your incisions covered with sterile bandages. When the anesthesia has worn off and you are fully alert, you can go home. You’ll need a friend or family member to drive you and stay with you for the first night.
What to Expect During Your Breast Lift Recovery
You’ll need some time for rest and recovery at home after your surgery and should plan to take about a week off from work. You may experience some discomfort in the first few days, which you can manage with pain medication. You may also have some swelling and bruising in your breasts, which will gradually resolve as your tissue heals.
Dr. Cash will provide you with detailed instructions on how to take care of yourself as you recover, when to see him for follow-up appointments, and how to reach him with any concerns. You’ll probably wear a surgical bra for the first week to help hold your breasts in their new shape and minimize short-term swelling. After that, you’ll transition to a sports bra for support. You can resume low-impact activities and exercise after about two weeks, gradually building up to your typical activity level by about six weeks after surgery.

Breast Lift FAQs
A breast lift is a procedure where the breast and the nipple are lifted so that the breast has a better shape and a more full appearance. The nipple is lifted to approximately mid upper arm level and the excess breast tissue and skin are removed from the bottom of the breast. This allows the fullness to remain in the upper part of the breast.
A breast lift should last many years. Of course, no one can stop gravity from happening, but once the shape and position of the breast is improved with a breast lift, this should remain for many years. Life changes such as weight loss or gain can affect the long term outcome of a breast lift.
A breast lift is performed using several techniques, but our typical technique includes making an anchor incision and leaving the nipple and areola attached to the underlying breast tissue. The nipple and areola are moved up to approximately mid-upper arm level and the excess breast tissue and skin are removed from the lower portion of the breast. This leaves the breast more full in the upper portion (or upperpole) of the breast which improves the shape and appearance.
A breast reduction and a breast lift are essentially the same operation, but it really just indicates how much breast tissue is removed. During your consultation, you will be able to discuss your hopes for the size you would like your breasts to be. The appropriate amount of breast tissue is removed to achieve this goal.
The incisions take approximately 4-6 weeks to heal. It is recommended that you refrain from immersing the incisions for 4 weeks to allow the best outcome of the scars. However, you will be able to shower 48 hours after the operation.
Candidates for a breast lift with implants include women who desire both increased breast volume and improved breast shape, often due to factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or aging.
A breast lift with implants addresses sagging breasts, loss of breast volume, asymmetry, and nipple position irregularities, resulting in a more youthful and proportionate breast appearance.
During the procedure, Dr. Cash will make incisions to lift and reshape breast tissue, reposition the nipples if necessary, and insert implants to achieve the desired volume and fullness.
Dr. Cash offers a variety of breast implant options, including saline, silicone gel, and cohesive gel implants. The choice of implant type will depend on factors such as patient preference, anatomy, and desired outcomes.
Yes, a breast lift with implants can help correct breast asymmetry by addressing differences in breast size, shape, and position, resulting in more balanced and harmonious breasts.
We often find that patients do not complain of a significant amount of discomfort and are able to return to their life much sooner than they expected. We use numbing injection into the breast during the operation which helps improve post-operative pain control.
The operation is an outpatient procedure and you will go home the same day.
Drains are not used during a breast lift
After the operation you will have steri-strips on the incisions, gauze over the incisions and be placed in a surgical bra. Two days after the operation you will be able to shower. Remove the surgical bra, throw away the gauze and shower. When you are done showering, pat the incisions dry and then put the surgical bra back on. You will wear the surgical bra for approximately a week and then we will have you switch to a supportive sports bra.
It is often more comfortable for women to sleep somewhat elevated after the operation for several days. It is not necessary to sleep elevated in a recliner, but adding a few more pillows to the bed at night may be most comfortable.
Certainly getting pregnant after a breast lift is possible, but the outcome of the breast lift will be affected by milk production or breast feeding. The increase and decrease of the size of the breast during childbirth and thereafter may cause the breast to droop again. It is not recommended to get pregnant shortly after the operation.
Yes, combining a breast lift and a breast augmentation is a common procedure. The breast lift returns the nipple to the desired location, and removing the excess skin and breast tissue from below the breast improve the breast shape. Adding a breast implant to the procedure gives more upper pole fullness or fullness at the top of the breast, which many women desire.
A breast lift or a mastopexy can range from $7500-$9000. Sometimes the patient would benefit from other procedures to be performed with a breast lift to improve the cosmetic outcome. These other procedures may include adding a breast implant or performing liposuction at the same time.
While scarring is an inevitable part of any surgery, Dr. Cash uses advanced techniques to minimize scarring and ensure that incisions are discreetly placed, typically around the areola and along the breast crease.
Like any surgical procedure, a breast lift with implants carries risks, including infection, bleeding, changes in nipple sensation, implant rupture, and capsular contracture. Dr. Cash will discuss these risks with you during your consultation.
A breast lift with implants can be performed concurrently with other treatments like breast reduction, liposuction, or tummy tuck surgery to achieve comprehensive body contouring results.
While breast implants are not considered lifetime devices, modern implants are designed to be durable and long-lasting. However, implant replacement or revision may be necessary due to factors such as implant rupture, capsular contracture, or changes in aesthetic preferences.
